Now is the time to renew your commitment.
“Though I am no longer in the classroom, I am still a passionate educator. PDK lets me care, share, and advocate for public education.”

PDK’s Distinguished Educator
Throughout our first several decades as an organization, induction into Phi Delta Kappa was an exclusive honor for the most established and distinguished in the field. The tenants of Research, Service and Leadership were promoted by these leaders to advance the field of education. In 2002, in the interest of expanding its mission, the PDK Association opened its ranks to any educator interested in advancing the field under these tenants. While we gained members and expanded our reach, our more inclusive approach lead to a sense of loss among some members regarding the honor and prestige associate with being a Kappan.
Today, we are in the process of establishing the PDK Distinguished Educator, an honorific reserved to elevate our most prestigious members and recognize them for their achievements and contributions to our profession and their commitment to the Phi Delta Kappa core values. To become eligible, members must demonstrate advancement of education in at least two of the three Phi Delta Kappa Association core values of Research, Service, and Leadership. The application will become available at www.pdkintl.org in the coming months, and will be announced in the monthly membership e-newsletter as soon as it becomes available. If you have questions, please contact email@example.com.
